World Reflexology Week
This World Reflexology Week we are looking at how reflexology works and the amazing benefits it can provide to clients.
Did you know there are more nerve endings in your feet than any other part of your body?
We use them to walk and run, they carry the weight of our body each day and, to be honest, we owe a lot to our feet!
But do you know that different parts of your feet are said to be connected to other areas of your body, from organs and muscles to body systems?
Reflexology uses massage techniques to target specific pressure points that correlate to different areas around the body.
This comes from an ancient Chinese theory called ‘qi’, which is said to be an energy that flows through our bodies. Stress blocks qi, causing the energy inside our body to feel off balance and resulting in us feeling ill.
Reflexology has traditionally been used to balance the qi within our bodies, promoting good health and wellbeing.
Therapists use maps of the points in our feet to determine where to apply pressure and which areas of our bodies require balancing most. The touch on these pressure points then sends energy to that specific area.
